Air purifiers, with their ability to remove pollutants such as particulates and formaldehyde, are suitable for various household and commercial scenarios and are a popular category of environmentally friendly household appliances for export to the European Union. To enter the markets of the 27 member states of the European Union, these air purifiers must obtain CE certification. The CE certification is a mandatory entry system in the EU, integrating multiple requirements such as electrical safety, electromagnetic compatibility, and environmental protection. It is a universal certificate for the legal customs clearance and market entry sales of air purifiers. Failure to obtain certification or proper labeling will result in risks such as customs detention, fines, and market withdrawal.
Air purifiers are designed with integrated components such as fans, filters, and intelligent speed control, and their testing standards are more in line with environmental protection and usage scenarios. They strictly follow the EU EN series standards and related directives. The core tests cover four dimensions: First, electrical safety testing (EN 60335-1), which checks insulation of the body, stability of fan power supply, and overload protection to avoid leakage and fire hazards; Second, electromagnetic compatibility testing (EN 55014), which controls electromagnetic radiation during equipment operation to avoid interference with the EU communication network and surrounding appliances; Third, purification performance testing (EN 1822), which verifies the efficiency of particulate and formaldehyde purification, meeting EU environmental control requirements; Fourth, noise testing to ensure that the operating noise meets the EU limit standards for household/commercial equipment.
The certification processing flow is in line with the export rhythm of foreign trade, with rigorous and efficient steps. First, clearly define the purification grade, fan power, and intelligent functions of the air purifier, divide the certification units, and different specifications and types of purifiers need to be applied separately; Prepare 2-3 samples consistent with production, and simultaneously organize English versions of product specifications, circuit diagrams, filter material test reports, etc. Then, entrust a third-party laboratory with EU recognition qualifications to submit samples and materials to start full-item testing. The regular cycle is 7-10 working days. If the test is不合格， it can be optimized and retested according to the rectification plan.
After passing the test， the enterprise writes an EU conformity declaration (DoC)， combines the test report to complete self-declaration， and complies with regulations by affixing the CE mark on the machine and packaging. In practice， there are three major misunderstandings to avoid： First， neglecting purification performance and noise tests， only completing basic safety tests； Second， using the same certification materials for different specifications of air purifiers， resulting in certification failure； Third， improper CE marking attachment and failure to provide an English version of the materials， hindering customs review. Completing CE certification can smoothly enter the EU environmental-friendly household appliance market， avoid compliance risks， and enhance product market competitiveness.
